RVP has been tapped up and is moving for money

Sometimes people try to spin things with a crafty statement and this is precisely what RVP has tried today, the big question is who is orchestrating this behaviour?  It is clear from reading between the lines that RVP head was turned a while ago and that he had no intention of signing a new contract with the club:

"Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since this is not my priority at all."

RVP had no intention of signing a new contract, if he had done then he would have at least briefly discussed the finances of a new deal.  The fact that he feels the need to make this statement and specifically mention money gives the game away.  He is clearly moving away for more money.

RVP has been tapped up, he knows certain other clubs that are unsustainable bankrolled by some rather disgusting individuals can pay him many more million pounds than we can.  He has spoken to another club behind Arsenal's back and his statement has been specifically designed to push for a move by undermining the club's position.  In the process he has spat upon the club and us, the fans, who have shown him so much loyalty and support throughout the bad times.

Football is morally and ethically bankrupt, this was perfectly demonstrated by the most despicable two clubs picking up the big trophies last season, money can buy success and it can also kill the soul of the sport we love.  So Gooners have faith, do not believe RVP's hollow dishonest words, he is just another symptom of the modern disease that is greed in football.  I expect RVP will sign for a certain English club fairly soon, it will be another nail in the coffin of football's soul, sad days indeed.  I would still rather win nothing than become the pure malignant scum that clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City have become.

Perversely I think RVP's statement has blown up in his face and Arsenal's simple counter statement has won the day.  RVP has lost the fans and knows he cannot stay know, Arsenal can play hardball because they know he will not want to stay on for that final year, RVP is in a very tricky position now......

RVP has gone because he is 28 and wants to win things and if past performance indicates future success Arsenal ain't the place to achieve this. Sorry!

Jesus H Christ how can you begrudge a player that has given 8 years to a team and only has an FA cup to show for his time, this is no more than a bitter rant because the guy wants to leave. Why is he leaving for the money?Van Persie is already a ridiculously wealthy man who is nearing the end of his career with nothing but money to show for it,Chelsea,City might not be everybodys cup of tea but at least they have ambition to win trophies

tough talk I feel your pain!

Gooner for life.

Its quite incredible really, VP was injured for well over half his career and we stood by him. one good season and it looks like he is off. you can't sugar cote that behavior!

Not about money is crock.

About club policy is a bunch of CROCK.
Wenger bought Giroud and Podolski. That told Robin Arsenal wanted to WIN.

He has been shown the CASH and wants to move on.

Thanks Robin for some wonderful moments but we are NOT IDIOTS.

excellent post.

RVP is helping who ever he is going to.
his statement was suposed to put pressure on us to sell and have no chance of negotiating for a buyer now that they know he wants to leave.

i say dont sell him let him play out the remaining year of his contract or rot in the reserves.
sick of these players games i dont mind if they want to leave but STOP fuking ARSENAL FC up.
cesc did it last year he refused to play yet professed his love for the club the lying little CUNT.
we are Arsenal FC we will be aorund longer then some jumped up egotistical player who thinks he can show no gratitude for all our support.

I think u r completely wrong about arsenal winning the day. RVP fist paragraph makes it plain club and wenger knew all summer he wouldnt extend. They have deceived the new signings and the fans. This comes out after renewals time! No fucking coincidence. The club have behaved disgracefully

this should come as no shock, most of us Gooners knew that podolksi was brought in early not to show RvPester ambition but as a replacement,,,dont be fooled by the slick americans who runs Our Beloved Arsenal...we're nothing better than a money making mcdonalds...

Keep him for the final year. Buy a top class replacement now. Robin will probably get a big injury and wish he signed the deal. Seriously, very disappointing but hardly a surprise, we thought he was more of a gooner than that but I suppose you gotta separate the men from the boys when it comes to Arsenal legends.

I'm really not sure about it being the fact that he mentioned that it wasn't for money that means it was for money. He probably just preempted the criticism - that doesn't mean its true, it just means he thought about what criticisms there might be. But I tend to agree with you - its probably for money and trophies.

Then again, £130000k a week it what I heard. And a signing on bonus. And captaincy. And the promise of more players to come. For a guy who's spent most of his career with a bandage on his legs.

See you Robin, another mercenary in this morally bankrupt game of ours. We were patient with you throughout your injury problems and paid you every week when we could have sold you then.

If players were all in this moral conundrum about loyalty vs ambition then perhaps they'd take a pay cut so Arsenal can bring in some more quality signings. Just think perhaps we'd have a team something like this:

Szczensy
Sagna
Koscielny
Vermaelen
A. Cole
Song
Fabregas
Walcott
Nasri
Adebayor
van Persie

Though the thing is that doesn't happen. They might say its the economic model that does this. It sure is - but I'd love it if he stopped pretending like leaving the club is such a moral crisis for him.

I'll work 70hour weeks while you cry on your bed of cash.

I got so bored of coming on our websites and saying he was going only to be met by the normal in denial fans who thought he would never leave. He is almost 29 and wants to win trophies. This will not happen at Arsenal because we will no longer win trophies while we are riddled with debt and a lack of ambition. Our decline is being camouflaged while we scrape into the Champions League (thank you Fulop) but we are no longer competitive. Forget Man City a moment and think about United. This is the worst United team in Premier League history yet we are miles behind them. What will our midfield be next season? Come on. We have shelled out on forwards, but who is going to fire the ammunition? If this was the deal for moving from Highbury it sucks. The atmosphere was poor there but now? It's embarrassing. The 22,000 extra Nigel, Jeremy, and Piers Fortesque-Smythes wearing their brand new scarves in their luxury boxes and whinging when we don't win 3-0 every game is pathetic. Anywhere wait a day or so and every article will be about how we ended 1 point above Tottenham. We used to end 30 points above them and not even think about them and now its all we have left. A sad demise of a great club.

The agreement RVP had with the club was not to announce this until renewals were all in, as they now are. I don't know why anyone would struggle to believe RVP when he says he's leaving because he and the club differ on strategy. The club's priority is not winning trophies, it is making a profit to line the pockets of a select few individuals, that is blatantly obvious and has been for some time. Why should RVP hang around any more to assist in that when he can line his own pockets and maybe pick up some trophies along the way.

Chelski and man shity are not showing ambition dick, they have just got shit loads of outside money, barnet could win prem in 10 years with billions££££s

You are pathetic, did I just read you mention that he gave 8years of his career for AFC? Are you counting his first to years that he was down the pecking order because there were better players than him? Are you including those seasons where he was nowhere to be found when AFC needed him most due to his series of injuries mostly sustained while on international duties? Just because he was injury free last season has made him the messiah? I do not blame him at all, the only person I blame is Wenger who continue to show them much loyalty when everybody is against them and how do they reward him? By smashing eggs on his face giving excuses they are leaving to win trophies.

i am so disappointed with Robin, I thought he would stay for the love of our club and loyalty to Wenger who picked him from Feyenoord's mess, made him great, stuck by him through so many setbacks and injuries and even now. It shows how naive I am. It is pretty obvious it is all about money. I am not that naive. It is pretty certain he has talked to other clubs and has a strong offer on his hands how else can we explain this statement that practically forces is transfer. I expected more of him. Al this stuff about winning thropies, sure that may ba an additional bonus but I don't buy that argument as a decisive factor. After all if he stayed and we improved further still, we'd have a good chance of winning something. In fact we still may. Robin VanPersie - from hero to zero!

Mark said...

Zigzag - get real. He wants to win the league and the champions league not have an outside chance of winning the league cup. He will probably get more money at some clubs, but do you really think he is leaving for money. If so he will go to Russia, China or PSG. Top players want trophies (and obviously a decent wage, but lets face it £6m a year at Arsenal should keep him in some form of comfort).

The last time he extended his contract one of his main concerns was the quality of signings & "ambition" of the club, so this is nothing new. Providing the club actually spends any transfer fee to
bring in a player of real quality,RVP leaving is no big deal. The problem over the last few years has been the dilution of the squad by selling top players & not replacing them with Class.

Van the man has just turned to Van the rat. anyways, i fuckin hate you Robin van Persie. you are after all Fabregas' and that asshole nasri's friend. they betrayed the club and manager that made them who they are, and now you too. Fuck off! we have giroud and podolski and we will buy more quality with the money we get from selling you. And Arsenal fc will win all the trophies this coming season and you will cry us a river but it will be too late.

Anonymous said...

There is a huge difference between WINNING a trophy, and merely collecting one.

Nasri did not WIN a trophy this year, just collected one.

Either RVP has a misguided sense of achievement, or he wants to make sure he has plenty of cash in the bank for retirement.

It's not hard to see why Netherlands had a disastrous Euros - the amount of ego floating around in that swamp...

Yes he has given 8 years.
But only 1 decent year.
Shame he forgets about all the injury plagued seasons and the rape charges, when Wenger and Arsenal stood by him during it all.
Give City RVP and 5m and we will have Dzeko and Adam Johnson.

Watch this space, he will be divorced next year!!

Unfortuantly this certain big club, doesn't only offer mega money, but is probably the best chance for winning medals...it's the best of both, some say he goes for money, he says he goes to win silverware - me, I'm afraid to say he goes for both, and as a sad gooner, feel it may long continue

Anonymous said...

Rubbish. He has seen his teammates leave and get success. Cesc at Barca, and Nasri/Clichy at City. He knows he wont win anything by staying at the arse. And Podolski and Giroud are nothing to get excited about. Podolski was one of the worst performing Germans at Euro 2012 and Giroud hardly got a look in even with France misfiring. I fear for arsenal, but with abig grin on my face hehe

Anonymous said...

Podolski and Giroud
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
your fukked hahahahahahahahah

Some of you Arsenal fans are beyond deluded its pathetic. As a City supporter I for one don't want RVP as we already have better but I can see why he would want to leave and my guess is Mr Wenger knew at the end of last season hence the 2 new strikers. Just making sure you all renewed your tickets first. You all keep concerning yourselves with City cause the sad fact is your not even close to a shit United squad.

Anonymous said...

One good year from RVP and he is questioning the club ambitions, the same club policies that makes it possible for his likes to be an arsenal player in critical times when he was a crock. We aint fool, snd it pained me when these players camouflagged reasons for leaving us

Anonymous said...

Footballers have become morally bankrupt not just players leaving arsenal remember the whole saga a couple of years back when Rooney queried if he should leave United for City because he thought they had a structure that would allow him to further "explore his potential as player". When he was asked he didnt even know what formation city were intending on playing. Showed up his statement as being complet dribble. Does RVP think he leaves on good terms becasue he did a solo laps of the ground last season? Crap just a mercenary fair enough they have a limited carrer but seriously someone like him is well sorted financially. The trophy thing is hollow, you can see older players like Charlie George talking about their trophies as something special becuse it was a pinacle of a lot of hard work and effort, not becuase they jumped on another bandwagon like another amusement park ride. You see a lot of older players begrudging the current crop of footballers and I think fair enough too the way they carry own.

City supporters make you laugh over 400 million spent one fa cup one prem title. Wow. Couldn't get out group stages of champs lge got knocked out of europa lge we will take over 20 million for Rvp to sit on your bench like the 24 we took for nasri. We were unlucky with injuries at beginning of last season your multi million pound players struggled beat arsenal kids in lge cup. Dickheads.

I agree, someone has obviously been dangling a carrot and trying to lure him behind the scenes - most probably Man City. I can't imagine Arsenal will be happy to let him honour the final year of his contract and leave for free next summer, which tells me he'll definitely be leaving in this summer's transfer window. At least we've bagged a few replacements already - unlike panic buying last season.
