Twitter 'muppets'

"Still out with loads of gooner in shadow of Emirates. Those who go home and away are voice on future of Arsenal. Not 606 or twitter muppets"

These are the words of Tim Payton, a board member of the AST (Arsenal Supporters Trust), taken from Twitter last night.  If these were the words of an individual Gooner who was nothing to do with the AST then it would be one thing, but they are an absolute disgrace for someone who is the official 'spokesperson' for the AST.

There are so many deeply disturbing elements to the views of Tim Payton.  All Arsenal fans should have a say, who is anyone to judge who has more right than others?  The arrogance and condescending nature of Payton's comments are utterly deplorable.

I will not rant on because Tim Payton's words tell the story beautifully, they tell the story of someone who is clearly not fit to be representing the AST, a man who seems to have a massively inflated opinion of himself and his own views, a man who has embarrassed himself massively with his comments and his complete failure to apologise to the massive number of loyal Gooners who he has shown such contempt for.

As a Fanshare member I shall be writing to the AST to express my opinion on their spokesperson's arrogant and senseless comments.  Tim Payton should do the right thing, he should either apologise properly to those supporters who has has offended, or he should resign from the AST.  The choice is yours Tim, show some backbone and moral fibre for once, do the right thing.

Completely agree, we did an article about the hubris of Tim Payton a few weeks ago: http://www.arsenalreport.com/discussion/stan-kroenke-witch-hunt-why-the-ast-needs-to-come-off-their-high-horse/

Was only around 150 there at the protest yesterday - barely filled the roundabout outside the armourey.

AST totally unfit in its current state to provide a representative view of the fans.

Storm in tea cup, flamed by fake overly PC outrage. There ARE truck loads of muppets on Twitter, if you choose to believe you are one of them, that's up to you.

its unfortunate that during the good times our "supporters" are all about how great we are but during some harder times they bitch about everyone at the club including the boot strapper. just stfu and support the club you love through thick and thin. i bet my left one that half the reason if not more is due to all the negative support the poor team has copped over the last five years and expectation placed on them. negativity breeds negativity you morons. bite you tongue and provide positivity. we cant win fkn everything every year. thats just plastic support and unrealistic. even chelski, or arab city cant do that with all there cash.

try to live by the mantra ATID if youvtruly support our great club. otherwise f off.

Rather ironic to denounce twitter muppets via the medium of twitter. Agree with some of the comments about the AST. It's an organisation that needs to have a strategic review of its purpose, involving its membership.

u've taken things out of context. I saw this tweet, and he did it after a few people on twitter said it was a disgrace for the fans to boo the. Get your facts right, i dont even think that your quote has even been picked verbatim. I personally agree with him, fans who go in week in and week out to watch this team over perform have a right to boo the team if they want to.

whoah, did i say 'over perform', meant the opposite, anyway you get the point.

I think Wenger has lost his winning mentality so he should give way for a fresher IQ like that of Pep Guardiola and he shouldnt work in the board the only post he qualified for is to work as an arsenal scout. The man has broken so many hearts i'm no exception. Gooner till rapture do us part. Handler @chuxe
