Starting XI and updates

Arsenal : Mannone, Eboue, Gallas, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Fabregas, Song Billong, Diaby, Walcott, van Persie, Rosicky. Subs: Almunia, Sagna, Ramsey, Silvestre, Wilshere, Arshavin, Traore.

Good to see Theo back on the team sheet. Plenty of ammunition on the bench that can be used later on if neccessary.

A high tempo start with Hart's goal peppered early doors, Rosicky looking sharp and goes close twice.

1-0 RVP with a cracking finish taking the ball in his stride and firing hard and low into the bottom of the net.

2-0 Diaby slots in from a great Rosicky cut back.

2-1 Damn. Mannone fumbles and Bowyer scores, about Birmingham's only effort on goal.

Half time. Mixed emotions, great football but how we are only 2-1 up is a mystery and the way in which we can concede so easily is very much symptomatic of our season thus far.

3-1 Arshavin. Surely that seals it.

  1. Pack of thugs, Birmingham are. They're an embarrassment to the sport. They look more like a rugby team than football.

And the ref is useless. I'm all for letting play flow, but this nonce is allowing all sorts of illegalities. Shoulder barges without any intention to play the ball, tackles from behind, pushes, shirt and arm grabbing. You name it.

If there is a slightly loose ball, you can bet there will be a Brum player lunging through the air without any concern for who he has to go through to get it. And without any control of his flailing body parts.

Someone is going to get hurt if this continues.

  2. This was a bang in the middle of the range solid performance. Nothing great but a good result considering both the Scousers and Chelski dropped 3 points.

Mannone at fault for their goal but made a good save second half.

Vermaelen, Eboue, Gibbs and even Diaby played well. Only a great save by Hart stopped the Mighty Abou getting a brace today.

I am not joking, he was good!

RVP also led the line well. How he only scored once is a mystery.

3-1 flatters the Brum, so well done Arsenal.
