Alan Green - complain to the BBC here

Go to the BBC I-Player link and listen from 23 minutes exactly, listen to the Arsenal caller who dares to politely suggest that Rooney may have taken a dive and won the penalty for Manu. Listen to the way in which Alan Green, an ugly version of Eamon Holmes if this is possible, is downright rude to 'Dominic' from London. Alan Green is not only biased, he is rude, offensive and brash when it is not at all appropriate or justifiable. He has a responsibility as a radio show host working for a public broadcaster to behave better than this. He behaves like a small child sticking their fingers in their ears when they hear something they don't want to hear, he just shouts and shouts and dismisses the caller by saying 'No, no, no, no, you are wrong, you are categorically wrong'.

If you like me think that Alan Green is a disgrace to journalism and was completely out of line with what he said to this caller, then please join me in complaining to the BBC here. A public sector broadcaster should not be able to get away with this kind of shoddy pap. Simply fill in the form and if you are feeling lazy then simply cut and paste this in as the complaint:

"Regarding:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00mdndc/606_29_08_2009/

The way in which Alan Green spoke to the caller 'Dominic' at just after the 23 minute mark was completely unacceptable. He was rude, offensive and downright obnoxious. He didn't even allow the caller to politely make his point, whatever this was, he didn't even let him speak. He shouted him down as a small child would stick their fingers in their ears having been told not to do something naughty. Alan Green's rude manner and appalling behaviour also calls into question his claimed objectivity.

I feel Alan Green should be reprimanded by the BBC for his actions. It is not good enough that someone can be so very rude and offensive to someone who is ringing up to make a polite point, he is a license payer and as a public broadcaster the BBC should do much better than this. I am not impressed. Alan Green should apologise live on air to 'Dominic', whoever this is."

ps Adam has pointed out that it may well be complaining to Ofcom as well, the more people that do this the better, get complaining!

Having listened to it, I was sickened. I complained to the BBC...

..but I also think people should complain to Ofcom as that is more likely to make a difference, particularly if they get over 10 complaints they have to respond

I found the gentleman rude and an absolute disgrace to journalism. I was driving and trying to listen to some constructive debate about the match when 'Dominic' called. From his tenor to his power of rational debate I am amused that he is in a position to host such a show. My passengers found him equally disturbing. He is a bully.

Use this as a basis to complain to Ofcom - its a slightly fleshed out BBC complaint.

What's more, Green shouted him down with 'no no no' before Dominic was allowed to justify himself and, despite Dominic outlining the crux of his point, Green made no attempt to justify why he was wrong.

After Dominic had been thrown off air, Green acted as if he had done nothing wrong.

He has history of this and should be punished severely to prove its unacceptable.

I've complained and refuse to listen to that muppet again! My compaint was "Alan Green is a disgrace to the BBC. While some of his journalism as well worked and unbiased, he is also downright rude on the call-in show. Although I have heard this poor before with other callers, his attitude to a guy called Dominic was unacceptable both in a sense of general discussion, and in terms of what the BBC stands for. The subject matter is non consequential, but to have Alan representing the bastion of British journalism that is the BBC in no longer in the BBC's interests."

I didn't mention that Rooney is an arrogant twat, or that dean couldn't referee properly for toffee!

The problem is that the media doesn't want the penalty brought up because they don't want to have a closer look at it.

They know if they look at it more closely it will reveal, at the very least, that it is valid to question if Rooney dived. And, even reasonably, that it isn't much different than Eduardo's dive.

There is a bias, an agenda, in media. It's undoubted. All you have to do is compare how much coverage Eduardo's dive caused to Rooney's and the sentiment towards both.

The bottom line is - the media doesn't want to know....and neither do the footballing authorities.

The sense of injustice that I feel is so exasperating. It will fade in time. But right now it's causing me a great deal of frustration. That's football I suppose. I would feel better if a few people in the media would be willing to show the courage to admit there is a question to be answered here.

One final note, I was interested in hearing Fergie's post match comments yesterday. You'll not be surprised to know that he felt Fletcher got the ball and it was a good tackle, no penalty and a good decision by the ref. And he felt the penalty decision for them was cast iron. Really riles me! There are a lot of filthy people in our sport....

Interesting to note - I just read that McGeady of Celtic was carded for diving in their SPL match today.

I wonder what the Celtic supporters think of that. I haven't seen it, so I can't comment on the fairness of the call.

Shame it really didn't matter as they won 1-0 and the yellow card is the only punishment he will receive compared to the possible 2 match suspension for Eduardo.

I saw the McGeady 'dive' for Celtic on the news. It looked a very harsh decision indeed.

I guess it shows that karma remains alive and well. If Celtic had not made such a fuss over Eduardo then maybe this would not have happened.

P.s. have also just complained to the BBC. I suggest everyone varies the complaint slightly otherwise they will see the "cut and paste" routine. Plus ask for a response - this increases the management involvement in the BBC machine.

Also complained to the BBC & OFCOM, with variations on the proposed theme.

However I think it now best to move on. I am sure we will get some favourable decisions at the emirates across the season, and it is easy to lose the
context of a few decisions in one game. The big teams get soft decisions t home, some softer than others. Imagine how many shit decisions Wolves are
going to have to live with this season?

Lets enjoy the positives from the game, look forward to adding cesc, Samir, Theo, Tommy & Carlos to the mix, and maybe a useful little signing as well.

United fan here, although I totally disagree with Dominic's comment of Rooney diving, Alan Green came on too strong over the caller and basically shut him up before he even had a chance to make his case, it was classic listening to both trying to say something on top of each other! haha
